Description
The original watercolor has gold leaf applied to the back ground. I then will paint watercolor over the gold leaf to tone it down and bring in colors from the painting. Prints will show the texture and tones but not the actual shine that is in the originals.

Thanks for everyone's comments! I've also painted this one with a red Heliconia, and I've used gold leaf many times. You have to plan your negative spaces well.
