Although spending most of my life in Oregon, I now call the east side of Hawaii Island my home. I live in a tropical rainforest and often use the flowers and foliage in my work. I am also in love with Honu, Hawaiian sea turtles. From the rocky coasts to white sands, oceans are also a favorite. Color and texture often dominate my artwork. I work mostly with Watercolors, but like to mix media and recently I've been working more with Photography and creating Digital Art.
My artwork has been in several juried shows in Oregon and Hawaii. I joined the Portland Fine Arts Guild in 2002. Through a Revolving Exhibits Program my artwork has been displayed in many Portland area businesses. In Hawaii I've been a member of the Volcano Art Center and the East Hawaii Cultural Center. Currently I am in The Stairway to Art Gallery in Hilo, Hawaii. At the Hilo Medical Center you can find "Healing Stone Honu" at the entrance to the Hospital. I built up texture to create petroglyphs on the base of the turtle's form, along with embedding many healing stones. It is painted entirely with watercolors, many from ground healing stones themselves. I have also taught several watercolor classes since I've moved here.
My husband and I fell in love with the beauty, healthy lifestyle and aloha spirit we have found here in Hawaii. I made the move for chronic joint and muscle illnesses that I've been diagnosed with. Health and it's maintenance take priority with my time. However, I'm glad I have the chance to create Art and share my love of it with others.
